Does baby oil help you tan quicker?

i googled this and it was saying how you should not do this because it burns you realy bad. is this because they are covering there self in baby oil and then they are going straight out into the sun?? does it help you tan quicker if you cover your self in baby oil every night after you have been in the shower??
